Client: Air New Zealand
Overview:
Air New Zealand was seeking to minimise their operating costs and maximise reliability in relation to the provision of their aircraft maintenance provision. To undertake maintenance on their ATR72-600 & Q300 Dash 8 Aircraft, scaffold was being built around the tail and wings of these aircraft. This scaffold system did not provide adequate access to all areas and needed to be checked regularly for safety purposes.
The Solution:
Brightwater was contracted by Air New Zealand’s Engineering and Maintenance Nelson Workshop for the building of one set of (left and right) tail maintenance docks, and one set of (left and right) wing maintenance docks for their ATR72-600 & Q300 Dash 8 Aircraft maintenance.
Brightwater’s scope was:
- Produce fabrication shop drawings based on the detailed design supplied by Air New Zealand.
- Procure screw jacks, gearboxes, steel, castors and decking.
- Fabricate and pre-assemble in our workshop.
- Supply and fit electrical DB’s, sockets, power and limit switches for jacks, LED lights and cabling.
- Transport to site as large assemblies to minimize the amount of on-site work.
- Offload and final site assembly and commissioning.
